Almost everyone knows Aldi isn’t afraid to make cheap knock-off dupes and Foreo looks to be their latest victim. I love their middle aisles because you never know what you’re going to come out with; a 6ft blow up unicorn, a tool box you’ll never use or a £7.99 facial cleanser that looks suspiciously similar to a very popular brands £149 version.
I’ve looked at getting a Foreo approximately 3 times a month for the last year but I could never bring myself to spend £80+ for a silicone facial cleanser that I might not even use. Even though it’s likely I’d forget about it a week after buying it, I still wanted it just to see if it lived up to the hype.
Aldi’s version looks very similar to the Foreo Luna 2, which claims to “provide a professional standard of skincare with its invigorating two-minute ritual”. Basically, it’s some silicone bristles that vibrate to help clear your pores easy and quickly. I can’t say exactly how the vibrations compare, but the Lacura (Aldi’s brand) cleanser has a really good range where you just adjust how vigorous you want it to be using the little plus and minus buttons.
Aldi had normal and sensitive skin versions, so I picked up the sensitive option and I haven’t had any inflammation, irritation or break-outs since using it. Foreo has combination, oily and sensitive skin options but I was more than happy with this.
It’s easy to keep clean with it just being silicone bristles so you don’t have to worry about washing it after every use like face cloths. The shape is very ergonomic and easy to hold with it being slightly bent, meaning you can get into the nooks and cranny’s easily. The battery seems to last a good while; I’ve been using it for about a week with no issues and it comes with a charger so you don’t need to worry about finding one.
For under a tenner I’m so happy I found this instead of making my bank account cry forking out for the Foreo. I can’t see that there would be that much difference between the two to justify the price. If you’re thinking about getting a Foreo and don’t know if you’d really use it or if the price scares you (like it did me) I’d definitely recommend trying this one out.
If you’ve tried this, or both, let me know if there are any real differences or if the Foreo is actually really worth it.
