For the third year in a row Latest in Beauty have collaborated with The Sunday Times Style for the beauty awards and users could build a box containing 6 of the short listed beauty award products, for just £30! The release was split into 2, with the first being 7am on a Sunday. That proved some dedication just waking up at that time. The first release was stressful with the site crashing and people going a little nutty, but I got my items and I couldn’t have been happier! So here’s what I got…
Charlotte Tilbury, Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow talk (RRP £25)
For the longest time I’ve heard everyone and their mother talk about Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk lipstick and how it’s the perfect nude. As someone who loves a nude lip, I was very excited to finally try it. The lipstick was one of the first items to go out of stock and it was STRESSFUL trying to get it. The shade is a really pretty colour and the formula is pigmented and matte without being drying. As nice as this lipstick is, I’ve got a lot of lipsticks that are just as nice but a fraction of the cost.
Eylure, ProMagnetic in Faux Mink Wispy (RRP £20)
Magnetic lashes are something I find incredibly intriguing and prayed they worked. You need to put a couple of coats of the eye liner on to get the lashes to stay in place but once they’re on it’ll take one hell of a gust of wind to get them off.
Huda Beauty, Medium Nude Obsessions (RRP £27)
I’ve tried a few Huda Beauty products so I was excited to try this palette. The colours are all wearable pinky nudes and have a pigmented buttery formula. They blend easily with plenty of colour pay-off with stunning shimmers.
Revlon Kiss Cloud Blotted Lip Colour in Whipped Hazelnut (RRP £7.99)
Yes it’s another nude product but I couldn’t resist and I’m not sorry. The colour is very similar to pillow talk but with a hint more brown. The whipped formula makes it comfortable to wear without making your lips feel dry. The formula isn’t as opaque as what I’d normally like but is build-able without being cakey or heavy on the lips.
GIVENCHY, Volume Disturbia Volume & Curve Mascara (RRP £11.75 for 4g mini)
I wont lie, this mascara was something I’d added to my box without realising and I just wanted to check out as fast as I could. There’s a lot of product on the wand and you need to scrape off a fair bit so you don’t end up with spider-leg lasses. However the mascara is very black and lengthening, although I usually prefer a more volumising product.
Jo Loves, Gardenia Votive Candle (RRP £21.60 for 35g)
I’ve never understood the craze with Jo Malone’s candles so I was looking forward to seeing what all the fuss was about. I’m still waiting because it’s just a nice candle.
This WHOLE box cost an insane £30, with a value of £113.30! I’m really happy with all of the contents of my box and I can’t wait to show you what I picked in drop 2…
I hope you’re all well in these very strange times,
